Eco Travel Tips
Recycle the food containers you use each day at your accommodation. Bring a bag with you each day while travelling to carry same and pick up at least one piece of rubbish/trash during your daily adventure. You can consider yourself a litter volunteer for Ireland.
Buy a small battery recharger and use only rechargeable batteries.
Buy locally produced organic food and eat local. Support local family run businesses like restaurants and small shops.
Try hiking or biking as part of your holiday.
Keep your showers short, and shut off the water while you're brushing your teeth. Couples, why not shower together :)
Reuse your sheets and towels instead of having them changed every day. If the tourism operator doesn't have a card mentioning it say it to the owners and they soon will!
Give feedback. Express your appreciation for eco-friendly programs it currently offers. Praise helps accommodation providers know they are doing a good job.
Avoid plastic bags. Bring a reusable light cotton bag with you that is easy to fold in your pocket or put in your daily travel bag.
Bring a a reusable cup with you for take away coffees or teas while travelling.
Use public transport if you cannot walk or cycle the required journey each day.
